Forging the Future

Story

This song is the story of the tribulations of alienation in a society where the protoganist just doesn't belong. It is a difficult and painful choice to leave everything behind - this civilized catastrophe - in search of his true path, destined to wander through the desert until he at last finds it.

There is a heavy influence of Dave Brubeck here (especially in terms of time changes and a nod of the hat to a particular section); but this is Dave Brubeck meets the Doors and Deep Purple.

Dor Nagar on vocals, Avi Singolda on guitars, Adam Ben Ezra on bass, David Lawrence Kuhn (songwriter) on keygoards, Ido Maimon drums and percussion, Guy Wittenberg on violin and sax solo, Shaul Barkan saxes.

Forging the Future

Story

This is a swingy, groovy, jazz-rock fusion tune. The main theme is a man's ongoing struggle with his lustful nature, fighting for self control and dying to break free.  Who is a hero? He who masters his desires? For a long time, I was a coward. Now I can stand up strong. "Discipline is Leaving. I've lost my self control. There's a fortune in believing my strength will claim its hold."

With Dor Nagar on Vocals, Avi Singolda on guitars, Adam Ben Ezra on Bass, David Lawrence Kuhn (songwriter) on keyboards, Ido Maimon on Drums and Percussion, Udi Perlman on Flute. Produced, Arranged, Recorded, and Mixed by Noam Hartmann and Avi Chen. Mastered by Jeff Willens.

Forging the Future

Story

This one is meditative, cool, trippy, with Morrisonesque lyrics, a little mysterious and threatening. As usual with the Tuval Cain project, the dark side is usually tempered by an internal struggle, and so it is here. There is a bit of a sordid back-story on this. It is the kind of thing that you bury deep down inside; not to stir up again - just another bump on the road to mastering my desires, my fears, my pain, my ego, and my lack of confidence. Now I've found my power!

Dor Nagar vocals, Avi Singolda guitars, Adam Ben Ezra bass, David Lawrence Kuhn keyboards (songwriter) and spoken parts, Ido Maimon drums and percussion.

Forging the Future

Story

A hard hitting classic rock tune with a positive message. "Power is the moment of man when first he meets his greatest challenge; when what he is he finally owns and refuses to take the easy way....". The overall message is basically paraphrased from the Talmud, the Ethics of our Fathers, and the Wisdom of our great Kabbalists and Sages - but with a Purplish edge to it. I love this one. My wife loves this one. And we hope that you will love this one. There is a new video that I took, available as a link, running around capturing the beauty and awe of living in the Holy Land.

With Dor Nagar on vocals, Avi Singolda on guitar, David Lawrence Kuhn on keyboards (and songwriter), Noam Hartmann on bass, Ido Maimon on drums and percussion, Shaul Barkan on sax.

Forging the Future

Story

A song of high ideals and disillusionment with some inspirational messages. Within that disillusionment, we never lost hold of our ideals, or of our really close friendships: those who have stood by us regardless of the deep divisions that sometimes divide us: for nothing.

Forging the Future

Story

This is one of my personal favorites in terms of the movement changes. From depression, to fixation on an object of infatuation, to a reclusive movement claiming freedom, and the dramatic end: a major betrayal of trust. I am particularly proud of the change in movements between the jazzy and classical to the hard rock.

Dor Nagar vocals, Avi Singolda Guitars, David Lawrence Kuhn keyboards (songwriter), Adam Ben Ezra on bowed acoustic bass, Noam Hartmann bass, Ido Maimon drums and percussion.

Forging the Future

Story

A medieval rock cross between Jethro Tull and early Deep Purple. Loosely greensleeves-based journey from lonely despair to the realization of one's ultimate love-desire.

The true story is that I was a shy good looking college young man infatuated with a beautiful girl who I could not bring myself to get close to. One day, I had a reason to knock on the door. I thought she said to come in. In any case, the door was open.  I saw "the most beautiful girl I'd seen in my life" until that point standing naked making herself up in front of a full-length mirror. She gave no sign of even noticing that I had come in. I slowly backed out, closed the door quietly, and took a good long walk to walk that one off - with this song being a byproduct of that walk.

Dor Nagar vocals, Avi Singolda guitar, Adam ben Ezra bass, David Lawrence Kuhn keyboards, Ido Maimon drums and percussion, Udi Perlman flute.

Forging the Future

Story

This is a song for Everyman, something that I think everyone can relate to. Exceedingly groovy and rockin' at the same time.  Simple, but I have a hard time placing this: funkadelic metal / pschedelic soul? If you know, tell me.

The true story. I lived with an extremely critical sister, absolutely driven to drive me out of our parents house where we were stuck living together for far too long. This song is a result of imagining being in a romantic relationship with someone that critical; and standing up for who you are!

Dor Nagar lead vocals, Tal Yehoshua Karat vocals, Avi Singolda guitars, Adam Ben Ezra bass, David Lawrence Kuhn keyboards (songwriter), Ido Maimon drums and percussion.

Forging the Future

Story

A hopefull love song in varied movements. This is a song I once wrote trying to answer the endless question from my then-to-be-wife; and then again as my wife: How do you know that you love me?

We have gone through many hardships together since then. We have also known unbelievable joy with the birth our of wonderful daughter - who has brought me more happiness than I ever imagined possible!

Forging the Future

Story

This is the intro part to the longer piece. It is quiet and contemplative.

I have always been a deeply spiritual man; and always understood how difficult it must be to be a prophet; and tried to imagine what it was like to handle something like that; and need to take up the calling and face the world - no matter what!

Forging the Future

Story

This is the Epic Biblical Story of Jonah the prophet, of his attempt to run away from his calling, of the inevitability of doing God's will, of the call to repentance, and it being acted on - with a nice instrumental section complete with a blowing of the ram's horn (Shofar) - ending in Jonah's crisis when Nineveh repented, and God's council.
